How I Got An Internship At Bloomberg (and a picture with CEO Mike Bloomberg)

The short answer is that I applied for the picture, and asked Mr. Bloomberg for the internship. Wait, what? No, I think it was the other way around.

Well, to be honest, I did what any normal (and whack-fully nervous) person would do; I walked up to Mr. Bloomberg and asked (in an uncharacteristically deep but polite voice), “Er, excuse me sir, may I get a picture with you?” However, the interesting part is the story that led me to this moment.

How I Got My Internship…

- A Chance Encounter

Although I would have loved to ask Mr. Bloomberg directly for it, the truth is that the whole process began due to my love for soccer. Since soccer is my passion, I played the sport with a lot of people at my university, which helped me make many good friends (I guess I played well?). I was most actively playing during my sophomore year, which is when I met my friend — B through some of the games that we played together. Since B was a senior then, I didn’t really get to know him very well as he soon graduated and became an alum.

Fast forward to my junior year, where I had one more summer remaining before graduation, the pressure to find an internship was higher than 760mm Hg, and I knew 0 Kelvin about…
